why? what signs do you look for?

have had mine for 3 months now - do we need to change them even though they look and work fine?

I have used mine for over 6 months and would never bother changing them. It had never crossed my mind that i should. I don't think I will bother in the future either!

oh was under impression you had to change them as they deteriorated

hmm, perhaps like they would like you to buy more of them. do they suggest thus?

DeathBySnooSnoo · 16/11/2007 21:25

the only time i changed them(used them for dd2 and now for dd3)was when the baby needed a faster flow rate.i am using dd2's old ones for dd3!

the old latex teats used to deteriorate, especially if you used steam sterilisers.they would go sticky after a while.but the silicone ones last untill they get chewed IME(i should think so too at £4 for two)

I'm sure you'll find someone who changes the teats regularly, you must have found the slack mums...

PrunersOfEight · 17/11/2007 07:44

I only changed the teats when I thought ds was feeding more slowly, and with difficulty
So I got the next size up
But if everything's fine - don't bother!
Silicone lasts for ages

the avent website advises changing them every few months for hygiene reasons but that might be them wanting to make more money out of you

from website:

Philips AVENT teats are made from silicone rubber. Since silicone does not wear out or change shape, the teats will need to be changed less often than latex teats. We recommend changing the teats in any event after 3 months use, for hygiene reasons. Always inspect the teats before use and throw away if damaged
