Tongue tie 8 months on?

Hi all,
Bit of a situation...DD had a really obvious TT at birth, latching was excruciating and she would lipstick my nipples no matter how far into her mouth I'd jam my boob. Fortunately we had it snipped within the week and the pain just vanished. I pumped like a mad woman to catch my supply up as I supplemented her with formula due to weight issues. Despite this, I only managed to EBF her for a handful of days (combined) and she was once again not getting enough from me. It's almost as if I needed to pumping around the clock for her to be getting enough. I tried getting back in though with the lady who did the TT procedure. We didn't have the best experience with her but I tried following up anyway...eventually she just ignored my messages. I know DD had a very obvious anterior TT (you could see it when she cried) but I don't know about posterior? 8 months on DD is having a lot of formula and minimal BF. I really want to continue our BF journey but I still don't know what the issue was for me to rectify it. Could it still be TT? When she drinks from a bottle, she still drools from one side. This used to be much worse before the TT procedure with lots more milk leaking out.

Hi OP. Are you wondering if your baby has a posterior tie? When she cries, what shape does her tongue form? If it's a significant posterior tie, the tongue cannot raise properly to the roof of the mouth (thus not being able to compress the breast during feeding) and the tongue will form a U shape when crying. Also, if you run your finger under your baby's tongue at the back, a too tight frenulum will stop your finger. A normal one will allow your finger to pass it by, being soft and flexible.

Drooling from a bottle can suggest a tongue tie, yes, especially when combined with failure to gain weight when breastfeeding alone.

Also, I've just seen your other post about a SNS. Medela do an excellent one, not expensive and can be ordered online. Otherwise, you'd just need a hospital grade feeding tube that can be inserted into a bottle teat , a bottle (or a milk storage bag I think?) and some strong sticky tape. The technology is pretty simple, but it's just making sure you get hold of high grade supplies for a baby.

Could you contact a different tongue tie practioner and lactation consultant to come out?
The tongue tie could have partially re attached.
