So my 10 month old only says mumma amd doesnt even try to say other words i wasnt really worried until i read if they dont say mumma and dadda or other words by 12 months its a sign of autism and after talking to a few people with autistic children a few things that jax does sounds so similar like he loves to play with wheels on his toys non stop or will constantly flick spinning toys he is not a fan of cuddles and has to squish his food before eating but im worried im over thinking can anyone share stories that are similar as im thinking he may have autism but my husband thinks im just over reacting 😢

Jesus is this a joke? I'm not trying to be horrible but honestly get a grip. Who says a 10 month old baby should be saying any more than mama?

Sally872 · 05/04/2021 00:12

My dd didn't speak until 2 years. 3 very baby versions of words only. Now 11 and no autism. She also wasn't very cuddly, always more interested in looking around.

My friends son was at speech therapist at age 3 as very limited vocab now 6 and no autism either.

Lots of babies love spinning wheels. Try not to worry.

To be clear you are definitely over reacting unless there is something you are not mentioning. All sounds very normal for a 10 month old.

Sally872 · 05/04/2021 00:13

@toooldandtired a mum up at midnight overthinking. No need to be so harsh.

TooOldandTired · 05/04/2021 00:19

Op, read this (this is where the NHS refers you for advice on speech)

ican.org.uk/i-cans-talking-point/parents/ages-and-stages/

Baby should only be babbling at 10 months, saying words by about 18 months. Don't believe a lot of the stuff you read online and dob compare to other kids they are all different.

ballsdeep · 05/04/2021 00:26

Op you are over reacting. You are looking for things that aren't there. My 15 month old says a few words, probably three consistently. My five year old didn't speak until he was 2.5 and now we can't get him to be quiet!

All children like to repeat things, that's how they learn.

At least he says mumma. My friend’s baby only said Dadda for ages and it drove her crazy - she was the one with him 24/7 😂

Namechangeforthis88 · 05/04/2021 09:17

Mine didn't speak till he was two, can't stop him now. If no words after 2nd birthday it's time to think about chatting to your healy visitor, but no need to panic. This one is very talkative and articulate.

My DD is 11 months and doesn’t say mama or dada yet, she just squeals and shouts.. I’m not worried.

If she’s saying mumma already, that’s a good thing!

Sorry op didn't mean to be so harsh but I hope you are reassured that your baby is fine, if anything I would say they are ahead. Best wishes for the future.
