Bollocks to HV's. I'm sorry - some of you may have good ones but really... how dare she talk about breastfeeding like that. I've seriously got issues with anyone claiming to be one and have given up going completely now as so far they've told me that my baby may have hearing difficulties (see my thread on baby not talking), learning difficulties, to stop weaning her but give her bio yoghurt - weirdly enough another one told me to give my DD bread and butter at 5 months. They've got as much knowledge about babies as Claire Verity. My doctor told me that he wouldn't let his wife to and see one as he didn't trust them. And don't get me going on those flipping weaning workshops. What the hell are they about?!!! Mine was so crap I breastfed throughout it and nearly squirted Hv with milk to shut her up.
If you can do it, breastfeeding is wonderful for you and your little one. I love it and its working really well with weaning so to hell with these troublemakers (beats chest with glee!).

My DS is 1 year and am still BF. Have a good HV and a brilliant BF group who all support BF for as long as poss - WHO recommend a min of two years! You have a defunct HV - complain!! She is giving all the good HV's a bad rep
