I've stumbled across a "Breastfeeding coverup" thing that actually looks practical

Not like those ridiculous tent things.
Slurp & Burp. Crp name but it is* American A tad pricey maybe when a muslin/shawl does the same job.

thanks for that, soup. I can see how it would work for me, being, erm, smallbreasted.

Not sure if I need a burp cloth. Don't remember either dd or ds possetting.

Perhaps some of the crafty mnetters could make one themselves.

chipmonkey · 07/11/2007 13:24

Oh, mine possetted all right. But only over my shoulder and down my back so that I was unaware of it and was only enlightened at the end of the day when getting ready for bed!

blueshoes · 07/11/2007 13:28

chipmonkey, you need a giant reverse pelican bib incorporated into your slurp and burp!

SoupDragon · 07/11/2007 13:30

Or a worn-backwards Hooter Hider (or whatever those tents were called!)

I thought about the idea of making one but it does say it's patented...

Maybe I should just be done with it and cut a hole in a sheet and wear it over my head!

blueshoes · 07/11/2007 13:46

Ah, but you are making an improvement in the design. So arguably the patent does not apply?

BTW, where does it say it is patented? If it is "TM" you are referring to, it just means the name "Slurp & Burp" is the subject of a trademark ie you cannot call your, erm, thing S&B. But does not mean you cannot go out and sew your copy of the thing and call it some other name ...

Is it you who was sewing Corrie-esque slings?

SoupDragon · 07/11/2007 15:34

It talks about "the patented design".

I was indeed sewing slings but pouch slings aren't patented designs.

Sheet-over-head... so stylish

MrsBadger · 07/11/2007 15:39

do they come with the straw hat, do you think?

chipmonkey · 07/11/2007 15:40

Now, a sheet-over-head and a straw hat and I think I'm set up!

lemonaid · 07/11/2007 16:06

Almost certainly not patented in the UK (since our patent rules are far more restrictive). So unless you are selling or supplying to the US nothing to stop you making your own.

£27.50!!!!

For a shapeless piece of material!!!

SoupDragon · 08/11/2007 11:40

I think it has 2 layers so opens up like many breastfeeding tops do.

It's not a shapeless piece of material, unlike the Hooter Hiders (was that their real name?), it looks like it fits like a sash. And, of course, it has the burp cloth built in and an elastic strap... I'm not saying it's not overpriced mind you.
