Just wondering if anyone suffered from supply issues first time and successfully breastfed second time around? Anf if so, why they think this happened/what they did differently

Yes, me - many years ago.

DS1 was 5 weeks early, born without a sucking reflex so never really established a good latch. He couldn't put weight on and I had to introduce a bottle when he was a few weeks old.

DS2 was full term, huge and very hungry. He latched on straight away and then stayed clamped to my book for months.

I was much more relaxed with ds2 and had decided that, if bf didn't work out, I wasn't going to beat myself up about it.

I hope it works for you with your DC2 but don't get stressed if it doesn't.

DC1 had an undiagnosed tongue tie and fed or cried constantly for months. DC2 arrived and was really chilled and fed well.

This time around you will probably know how to spot Tongue Tie, where your local BFing Support Grouos are, the helpline numbers and what to expect in the early weeks.

I'm sure you'll be fine Smile

Oh and the reason I think that DC2 was so chilled is because I read Baby Calming before I had her Smile

I really struggled to feed DC1. They lost a lot of weight and I had to start bottles. I persevered and by 12 weeks was back on just breastfeeding. But the effort it took to get there was just not worth it. My milk didn't come in until day 12, and I still didn't have much even then. DC just wouldn't latch and was only interested in bottles. I was pumping all day and night, in tremendous pain and almost constant tears. I promised myself and DH that I wouldn't put us through that again, it marred the first few months of DC1's life even though I then fed for over a year.

DC2 was born and I was fully prepared to use bottles, but they latched on straightaway and we had no problems at all. They were a great feeder and I had plenty of milk. That was when I stopped blaming myself for DC1's disastrous start and realised it is just down to luck!

Yep, dd1 was small, didn't latch well, developed jaundice, needed bottle top ups for 5 months.
Dd2 was bigger, latched straight away, and although she also had jaundice I was able to feed it out of her myself without formula.
Also it really helped the second time that at least one of us knew what we were doing.
