Has your baby arrived yet? If not then I would wait until you have the baby in your arms and are actually doing the feeding - then you'll know if it's going to work for you. For what it's worth I have a lovely rocking chair which we had pre-children - never ever fed any of them in it but worth its weight in gold in rocking to sleep as they liked the motion.

pukkapatch · 04/11/2007 22:59

i never had one. but i still want one. and mybreast feeding days are long long over.

robinredbreast · 04/11/2007 23:00

got ours cheap in B&M bargains - we are tight economical. love it. I have it in the conservatory and sitting there b/feeding DC are the 'heaven' moments i shall always remember.

Trimum2 · 05/11/2007 00:14

They are lovely and relaxing. I bought mine on Ebay and would recommend that way if you can as they are v.expensive new. The only flag I would raise is when a BF advisor lady looked at me feeding in it, she said that it was too high off the ground and I needed books under my feet... so still not perfect. (I don't think she was a huge fan of them)

But I like having the arm rests either side of me (we don't have anything else similar furniture wise) and felt I was way too slumped backwards on the sofa (although I guess this could have been corrected with lots of pillows as a cheaper option

pukkapatch · 05/11/2007 00:47

nor really robin. but when the brats little darlings are being little sods challenging, i have fond memories of the time when they were so easy to take care off. breast feed, clean up pooo, and cuddle. that was all they wanted or needed. [sigh]

slim22 · 05/11/2007 01:06

Like pukka. Never had one.But still want one.
You can use them for years. To cuddle up and read stories. To sit and watch them sleep when ill. For a nap. For your mum or granny when they visit.

QuootieSpookypie · 05/11/2007 01:32

yes yes yes - my feet swelled up so much from BFing on a normal chair (ie. still) and I can't remember what was wrong with me legs, but I would be crying at night with the pain - something to do with the nerves. When I fed in a glider obviously you are moving your feet and legs and the pain went. And it was so much more comfortable.

kiskidee · 05/11/2007 05:57

i picked out a really comfy leather armchair in a normal furniture shop. it was upstairs till dd was about 1, now it just blends in with the rest of our living room furniture. dd now tells me where to sit when she wants feeding.

dal21 · 05/11/2007 09:32

absolute must. mine is in the living room and am in it when feeding/ putting lo to sleep and even when without bub.
i invested in one that reclines/ rocks/ fixes into one position and it was worth every penny! oh and with footstool too.

BabiesEverywhere · 05/11/2007 10:19

I bought a cheap one £99 with footstool and I didn't use it much until DD went into her own room at 6 months old.

Now I always use it in her room for her evening feed and any night feeds and it is invaluable

fleacircus · 05/11/2007 10:23

We were planning to get one when PFB arrives (end of Dec) but ended up getting it in the summer because I was having a lot of back pain and we thought a good chair would help. I absolutely love it, so does DP (for watching TV in when I'm out), when B&SIL came over they each had a go at feeding their DS in it and both proclaimed it brilliant. Ours was expensive but absolutely worth it.

fleacircus · 05/11/2007 10:25

Guardian thing about rockers, if you're interested.

goingfor3 · 05/11/2007 10:25

I would love one. Kiddicare have some that are real bargins. If anyone has one from them what is it like?

BabiesEverywhere · 05/11/2007 11:07

My cheap chair was from Kiddercare and the chair itself is fine but I wouldn't recommend them.

I bought the chair in person at their Peterbough store and I had no issues with the sale or delivery.

But later on I tried to buy a highchair via their internet site I had trouble ordering a highchair off them, they cancelled my first order without speaking to me or anything and then I reordered and had further problems.

You have to PAY to use a high rate telephone number to speak to them on the phone, even to sort out THEIR problems. I gave up and got my money back and wouldn't shop there again via the internet as the customer service is pants.

BabiesEverywhere · 05/11/2007 11:07

Kiddercare Kiddicare

beckmo · 06/11/2007 07:48

I just bought one last week. She's 4 months old and I wish I had bought it sooner. At last I have a comfy spot to feed her and I really enjoy cuddling her in it. Think it will be lovely for storytime as she gets bigger too and my back is feeling better already. Got mine from kiddicare and they were fantastic.

bealcain · 06/11/2007 07:54

totally worth it. i bought mine a few months ago, ds2 is now 8months, i definately wish i'd had it sooner. te cheapest place i found was kiddicare dot co uk or com i cant remember it was £80 with a glider stool as well

bealcain · 06/11/2007 07:57

sorry have actually read other posts now

i found them brilliant. the service was second to none. i got emails confirming my order. i gave them my mobile number and they text me to say what day it would be delivered and the day before they text again to say exactly what time it would be delivered. i got numerous texts through that day to say it had left the depot etc....fantastic and not too complicated to put together either

CorrieDale · 06/11/2007 08:03

I got one from Kiddicare. It's fine, they were fine! If you're planning on having another baby, I'd get a more expensive one though. Mine looks much the worse for wear now two years on, even though it only gets used for DS's evening feed. The cushions seem to be sponge-clean only, which is a pain. If I'd known we were having DD too, I'd definitely have splurged more.

MamaMammalon · 06/11/2007 11:01

Absolutely. They are amazing. SO peaceful. I always fed dd in hers in the nursery from birth (even when she wasn't sleeping in there at night). She visibly relaxes when we sit down.
get a reclining one if you can.

Tangle · 06/11/2007 12:51

Sorry to hijack slightly, but how do those of you with glider/rockers find it once DC gets bigger?

DD is 7 months and still BF (with no plans to stop soon), but just about to grow out of quite a lot of 6-9 month stuff as she's quite long in the body. I often find chairs with arms too constricting and can't work out where to put heads, arms and legs for us both to be comfortable.

TheMouse · 06/11/2007 13:13

Does anyone have any experience of the
Baby Weavers Glider Chair

Seems like excellent value on kiddicare at the moment! Or should I bite the bullet and go for the Dutalier Sindy??

MamaMammalon · 06/11/2007 13:17

Tangle- my little one 6 mths almost and still going strong in the chair. Still in 3-6 mths stuff just though. xxx

BabiesEverywhere · 06/11/2007 15:56

My DD is 14 months and we use the glider chair with no problems. However I usually use the rugby hold (under one arm) and she actually lies along the armrest...well it works for us.
