Went out this am with DD2 (3 and a half weeks) to pick up a parcel from the post office.
Joined the mahoosive queue and naturally she started grizzling for food, so...
I manouvered my batwing type sleeves on my top around so I could get a nork out of the armhole and fed her, standing, with no sling (left it in the car) for about 10 minutes.
I had to fend off 3 people who came over to coo without realising I was feeding her and got the shock of their lives when they peered closely .
Result? Quiet baby all the way home, no leaking in public....but no fecking parcel...

blimey, respect at 3 and a half weeks!!

BroccoliSpears · 31/10/2007 15:08

That totally beats my feeding while walking the dog around a lake in the park at 5 months.

Go you.

dal21 · 31/10/2007 16:46

well done you! at nearly 8 weeks, I am still doing social engagements around when my LO needs feeding which at every 3 hours means hardly any social activities at all. Unless DH is with me, or I know there is a bfeeding area, I havent dared to bfeed on my own in public yet. shame on me.

TheUnholyTrinityRhino · 31/10/2007 16:48

way to go chirpy

come on dal, you can do it

meemar · 31/10/2007 16:50

Good old batwing sleeves! I knew the 80's revival was good for a reason

susie100 · 31/10/2007 16:51

Well done! PMSL at shocked cooers!

MrsBadger · 31/10/2007 17:19

oh I know those shocked cooers!
I think you even beat me feeding round Gap at 5wks...

dal, if you're near me you should come over - we had five of us bfing outside Costa on Monday...

Chirpyghoul · 31/10/2007 19:22

I was pretty impressed with myself, smug mummy or what!

Mind you, I wouldn't have tried it with DD1, she was a wriggler!
I think having a toddler helps as I am always having to get up while feeding to stop DD1 wrecking the joint and DD2 just clings on like a monkey so she is used to being fed while on the move!

Respect.

You're right about having a toddler. DS2 has been fed chimp-style many a time while I chase DS1 across a playground, tits flapping wildly in the breeze. You just lose your sense of embarrassment after a while, don't you?

Chirpyghoul · 31/10/2007 19:31

Sense of embarrassment? What's that?! I have answered the door with my top hitched up round my neck way too many times...good way of getting rid of nuisance salesmen though!
