Leaking from 'empty' breast?

I have been feeding from one side, taking a burp break, then putting my baby back on that side until he slows down/ rarely swallows. He doesn't tend to let go voluntarily , but comes off easily (minimal suction, iyswim) once he's got to the desultory feeding stage. I then put him on the other side.
Over the last few days, I've noticed that when he starts feeding on the second side, the first starts leaking quite a bit.
Sorry for such a long post. What I wanted to know was, does the leaking mean I haven't actually emptied the stored milk? I presumed it'd got to the trickle only stage. Am I wrong? I don't want to swap sides too early, obviously.

frisby - this is normal, though probably a sign of a generous milk supply which is a nice thing! Please don't fall for the old myth that breasts have to be 'emptied' - they really do not 'empty' but just end up less full after a feed.

The signal to switch sides comes from observation of your baby's behaviour, which is what you are doing, and to me it sounds fine

LOL you can't empty them as such. It's just because you have ust been feeding him on there and it's still stimulated. I often used to leak on the other side whilst feeding whether I had fed already or not.

Breast never truly empty.

Ah! Thank you for the replies; that puts my mind at rest.
