which are the best washable breast pads? i'm currently using disposable ones which show through my clothes and are a bit rough!

Lansinoh are the best ones I've tried. Don't get the Avent ones as they have lace on the outside for some inexplicable reason . I like the way the Lansinoh ones are shaped and they are soft.

lailasmum · 25/10/2007 14:36

yes the lasinoh ones are a good shape. pretty much any of the washable ones will do the job but they tend to be fairly visible. You could try lilypadz too which are supposedly invisible.

I had lanisoh ones and found they were fine. However make sure you put them in a net bag or something when you wash them or the washing machine repair man will not thank you for being called out just to pull about 6 of them out of various parts of your wahsing machine's mechanism when it stops working

Beenleigh · 25/10/2007 14:48

i tried green baby ones and they were rubbish

LittleMissLate · 25/10/2007 14:48

I liked the boots own brand ones more than the Lansinoh as I found they kept their shape better when washed.

absandme · 25/10/2007 21:12

boots own, they dry really quickly on top of radiator too!
MAKE SURE YOU WASH THEM IN THE BAG THEY COME WITH..........it cost £60 to get our washing machine fixed!!

avoid avent - they made my nips sore!

I didn't put the Boots ones in their bag and that was the end of our washing machine

so beware...

sparklygothkat · 28/10/2007 15:42

am currently using the advert ones but will try some of the pthers suggested here, as they are not very good and milk still leaks on my clothes

bumperlicious · 28/10/2007 16:00

ooh, didn't realise that about washing them in the bags. what about things like baby socks and mitts? should i be washing those in a bag too (oops, sorry for hijack).

My one warning with the washables, if your nips are sore the pads stick with the milk and can hurt when you peel them off.

My lovely mum made me some homemade breast pads (bless!) - however, they were fantastic! Much beter than ones that i had bought. Really comfy, soft and absorbant. They were a circle of towelling sandwiched between 2 circles of flannelette material. She made me loads. She has been busy recently making some for friends - we all love them!

I started out with about 40 of them but seem to have only half of that left - my poor washine machine - i hadn't thought they would get lost in there!!!

I used the boots own ones and they were fine. More comfy than disposables which always got a bit scratchy, I found.
