Covid vaccine and breastfeeding High BMI

What are thoughts on the covid vaccine and stopping breastfeeding to get it?

I am an older mum at 41 but also have a very high BMI so am a higher risk category for Covid. I don't want to stop breastfeeding but worry about not taking the vaccine.

What are thoughts on this issue please?

I've not read the guidance on having the vaccine whilst BFing. Do you know what it is?

They won’t offer the vaccine to breastfeeding mums.

I personally would choose the vaccine over breastfeeding if my BMI was high.

How old is your baby?

Only 6 weeks old! 🙈 Not likely to be offered the vaccine till April or after but wasn't planning to stop feeding for a long time

@jingle U K vaccine is not offered to breastfeeding or pregnant mums. Not approved as no testing done in that regard although I don't believe the science is possible to pass covid to your baby through breastmilk or anything like that. More the other stuff in the vaccine potentially being harmful especially when developing. I think other countries are allowing it but there are no tests to be sure

I would continue to breastfeed rather than get the vaccine. Breastfeeding is dose responsive for a whole host of things like breast cancer and ovarian cancer and type 2 diabetes as well as some heart disease stuff. Breastfeeding has benefots for the baby too but if Im looking at it from my own health perspective the longer I do it the more I benefit.

Yes me too. If you breastfeed exclusively and watch what you eat you can drop the bmi too. I was 39 when I started, 40 now, and am lighter despite eating more than before ivf BECAUSE of breastfeeding.
