BF/cluster feeding/hiccups/vomiting cycle.

DD is 4 weeks old and breast fed.
Gaining weight well, wet and dirty nappies.
Last few days her nappies have been green, google tells me it could be over supply or just one of those things.

During the evening, not every night, she cluster feeds, which I expect. I let her remove herself from my breast, quick burp, swap to second breast, she falls asleep at the breast.
Problem comes that she starts hiccuping after every feed, a few minutes after coming off the breast, if left she will vomit, a decent sized vomit sometimes, a bit of spit up other times, and then want to feed again as she’s still peckish/wanting comfort/wanting feeding to sleep. If I relatch her she’ll feed again, start hiccuping and vomiting, this cycle goes on for —fucking— hours. Her tummy must be full, the constant feeding is I think causing her green poos.

But how the fuck do I stop her hiccuping? If I can stop that it would break the cycle.
She’s been on and off my breast for the last 7 hours and I’m exhausted. I’ve made DP take her to give me a break from the constant nature of it but I can hear her crying downstairs so it’s not like I can sleep and I just feel terrible that I can’t console her without making her vomit.

Oh and she won’t take a dummy, have tried several.
She also does this during the day time, it’s just night time where it affects me mentally to a greater extent.
Have tried getting on the list for the local BF support group but they can’t see me til after Christmas/new year.

I'd get DH to stick her in a sling and go for a walk or if it's too cold, a drive in the car. The motion should get her to sleep and should give you a break for at least an hour.

My DH used to take DD out in the pram, then head home when she fell asleep and leave her in the pram in the hall till she woke back up again. On a good night I could get a 2-3 hour break.

Are there any other groups near to you or have you tried ringing if the BFing Helplines?

This article from Kellymom might be useful too for you and your DH Smile

My lo has reflux and we got stuck in a similar cycle. I found that if I moved her she was more likely to be sick so I leave in the position she finishes feeding in for 10 minutes or before moving her into a more upright position which should help with the spit up.

I try to avoid feeding straight after she has been sick. It is so difficult to do when she desperately wants to feed but I find her tummy needs to settle before she can feed. I often have to pass her to my partner for some cuddles away from the smell of milk.

We had some green poos too at about 6 weeks but they went as quickly as they came by not changing anything.
