Slip up :(

Hi all
My DD has suspected CMPI and I have been on an elimination diet for a couple of weeks now- no dairy or soya. I felt like I had a new baby! Way more settled etc. Finally sleeping.

Then yesterday stupidly started on a massive bar or dairy free chocolate. Today I noticed her getting increasingly fussy, so I checked the chocolate and it has soya in it :'(

Her symptoms when i was on dairy were excessive gas and tummy pain, and basically lots of crying. No bloody poo.

I had almost the entire bar of chocolate. Any idea how long until she's her normal self again? I know it's a "how long is a piece of string" kinda question but....I'm just looking for some hope hahaha

I don't have any experience of this but please don't beat yourself up about it. It's a mistake you won't make again and elimination diets are hard!

Well the good thing is I think you've proved what's wrong with her Smile

Have you been referred to a Paediatric Dietician yet?

OP, our dietician told us to do exactly this - eliminate dairy/soy and then bring it back in to see if it made a difference. Apparently tons of people cut out dairy, baby gets a bit older and starts sleeping better etc and they think it’s the dairy when it’s actually a coincidence. So you actually did the right thing!

Update- the 2 days after soya slip up were baaaad, DD barely slept and was constantly crying. She's a little better now but still has bursts of really bad tummy pain. She also hasn't pooped since my skip up so I'm wondering if the tummy pain is from not having emptied her bowels, or if I'm still consuming something that's setting her off. Only thing I can think of in that regard is eggs and nuts.

It could be something else but it's absolutely normal to expect pain and sone writhing for at least 3 to 4 days. It's takes me 2 weeks to fully recover from a slip up Smile
