Hi

My baby is 4 weeks old and to start with I have been wearing vest tops and cardies to breastfeed but now itis getting cold and the only breastfeeding tops I can find are Naff rugby shirts with dodgy buttons. can anyone suggest any decent suppliers int eh uk of breastfeeding clothes ( or ways of adapting my existing clothes?)- Ihave found a couple of good USA sites but delivery can be 4 weeks and I need clothes now.

Thanks

Would this be any help?

I'm with Yorkiegirl on this one - I bf DS2 all the way through last winter and although I had ione breastfeeding top, the gap that my boob was supposed to get through was laughable so I just hitched up whatever I was wearing!

At present I still have to see baby to check he is well latched on etc so find If I wear somethibng baggy I am holding most of the fabric up over the top of tit with my chin - which then makes my back ache.

Thanks for the site link - they have loads of cool stuff!

i found wearing tight t shirts worked ok. you just lift them up as much as you need and they stay there. i found baggy clothes terrible as they fell over dd's face

Clayhead · 22/10/2004 11:11

I just wore my normal stuff (both ds & dd born in autumn/winter). I also found that, since I wear a lot of lowish v-necked stuff, I could pull the v down and under the boob (IYSWIM!!!) and feed that way, thereby having no fabric on the baby's head.

I also wore tightish things but don't make my mistake and let it get too tight round your boob, I got mastitis that way, not nice!

If you're at home you could do as they did in ny old BF clinic - use a piece of ribbon to tie up a baggy top (loop it through the neck hole). It works well and you'll soon feel confident enough not to have to look at your baby. Saves money too!

I don't wear anything different for feeding just hitch up whatever I am wearing never found it a problem to be honest.

I wore a strappy vest underneath whatever else i was wearing. That way I could pull up my shirt (pulling down the vest underneath, so i was covered under and over, IYSMIM) without treating the world to my flabby belly!
