How to stop my breast becoming engorged?!

HiSmile

I am 11 weeks pp and mostly BF my daughter. When I go out she has a bottle but this is very rare. I'm going out for my birthday and will be out for many hours whilst she stays home with grandparents. What do I do to avoid my boobs becoming painfully full. Every time I've been out for longer periods they becoming rock hard and uncomfortable. I'm worried I won't be able to enjoy my evening out because of it and I thought after 11 weeks it would be better but it's almost as bad as when I was 2 weeks pp. any advice?

Express 🤷‍♀️ takes me 10-15 mins but I know it doesn't work for everyone

Years ago for me. But savoy lettuce leaves from fridge under bra were superb at this stage. Midwife tip and it really worked.

Unfortunately there won’t be a way to stop them getting engorged without removing some milk, I.e, expressing. Your body is expecting to feed your little one as normal so It will build up. When I was in your position, I used a single pump (manual) on one side and a haakaa silicone pump attached to the other to reduce the time it takes. I didn’t bother trying to store the milk as it just wasn’t convenient so just poured it away but if you’ve got an insulated bottle bag and ice pack you could keep it cool enough until you get home? Enjoy your night out 🙂 x

I do this but it's not that effective for me and isn't easy to do when I'm out. X

I find a Haakaa pump really useful. You can express just enough for comfort. You could pop to the loo to do it while out as it's manual so doesn't need to be plugged in etc.

I went to a festival for the day when one of mine were about the same age. Took a bigger bag and a manual breast pump and expressed in the toilets!
