Dd is 4 weeks and ebf I was abouu oh t to start combi feeding and had formula ready to try one day but we’ve just had a terrible few days ...
Dd has been suffering with awful nappies full of mucous.
She’s always had reflux so not sure that’s relevant but might be. Plus there’s family history of cmpa and other allergies.

I have dairy in my diet and had a lot on the 24 hours before she had really dreadful nappies. Worried it could be that so have cut it out.

Can’t get a drs appt for anything like this atm so unsure what to do as wanted to combi feed and now I don’t think I can use the formula I’ve got as don’t want to risk a reaction.
I wasn’t going to pump as my milks never ok after being chilled or frozen so would have to be pumped fresh each day and that’s a lot of work (high lipase and goes disgusting after a few hours even)
Not sure what to do and df formulas are expensive

Sorry to hear you’re having a rough time with your little one. My LG is 4 months and only recently finally got diagnosed with CMPA, it was a long slog to get anyone to listen to me. GPs tend to fob you off. So when I suspected she had CMPA (she had a rash and mucousy nappies), I was told to cut all dairy and soya out of my diet which I did so strictly for 4 weeks but saw no improvement to the mucous but her rash did go. I stopped breastfeeding due to latch issues and tried her with comfort formula (this contains partially hydrolysed milk proteins) and her nappies remained mucousy. The doctor finally prescribed Nutramigen which she struggled to take but it immediately improved her nappies. She’s on aptamil pepti now. You should contact your GP and explain baby has mucous in nappies and say you need dairy free formula for top up feeding as you’re breastfeeding. In the meantime you should cut out all dairy and soya from your diet (check all labels as lots contain hidden dairy such as ham and some crisps). You should see an improvement but like I said I never saw an improvement till I put her on the dairy free formula fully, not even when I was dairy free breastfeeding. I hope this helps!
