Milk for 9 month old

DD is EBF, but I need to go back to work in November when she will be 10 months. DH will be at home with her for the rest of the year.

In the last few days we've started to replace one breastfeed with a a sippy cup of formula, and she's taken to this surprisingly well given she's never had one before.

My question is about making up milk...

At the moment we're using little cartons of readymade formula, but we want to move to powder.

How do we make up the powder in a sippy cup (which you can't shake) rather than a bottle? And how do we know how much she needs, given that she's eating solids well? And do we really need to sterilise things given that she puts everything she encounters in her mouth?

Hats off to all bottle feeding mums. It's like a science experiment.

I would make it up in a bottle and pour into the cup. Nhs says around 400mls for that age group.

You need to sterilise it because of the milk powder, not because of normal bugs. A pain I know!
