Short breasfeeds 5 week old

My 5 week old had his tongue tie cut just over a week ago and he's still struggling to get a good latch and suction. He only feeds for 5-8 minutes then pulls off and refuses to go back on. Sometimes he cries and fussies for a few hours other times he might fall asleep. He is gaining weight but at a slower rate than a few weeks ago. He has wet nappies and maybe 2 dirty nappies a day. I just don't think he's getting enough food. Gp isn't concerned because he is gaining weight. I just wish he'd feed for longer. Anyone experienced this?

Is he gaining enough weight to follow the same centile line? Does the provider of the tt snip provide follow up care? Keep offering, day and night, keep yourself well hydrated and eating enough calories. Skin to skin when you can.
My second dc seemed to barely feed, relative to my first dc, but he definitely got enough, although I couldn't believe he did at the time, looking back at photos he was the shape of a potato!

He was just above the 75th centile a few weeks ago and now he's just below it. I'm hopefully seeing the tongue tie person next week. I do need to eat and drink more myself but it's hard as he loves to sleep on me too. I would really love a couple of hours sleep too, I'm bloody knackered. He doesn't do the drunk baby thing very often after feeding and does take a while to settle then before I know it he wants another short feeds.

Neither of mine did the drunk baby thing. Staying around the same centile isn't a cause for concern medically. He could be mid growthspurt, sites such as Kelly Mom and LaLeche League are great information and support.
I totally get what you mean about exhaustion, sleep deprivation is literally torture. I can remember the new name of the charity ISIS, obviously they changed their name! They offer advice on normal infant sleep habits and safe cosleeping when breastfeeding.
It's hard for you, and normal for babies to sleep on you, an insulated mug, long charger cable and easy to eat with one hand snacks are your friend for the next few weeks (months/years,l!? My first napped on me for the first couple of years when we were together).
