Too late to start breast feeding?

My little boy is two weeks old, and for various reasons I was talked out of breastfeeding by family. I regretted it so much. Today I noticed Mily leaking out of my right boob...I wonder if it's too late to start...even combi feeding would be great. Thanks x

It’s definitely not too late. One of my friends didn’t breastfeed at all but was told at an NCT group at 5 weeks post partum that she could still up her supply etc. I think the first steps are either to start trying the breastfeeding latches, nipple clamps, try and join la Leche league or get help from a breastfeeding consultant or lactation consultant or even buy/use a breast pump until you can get that sorted. For full breast feeding at that age I was told you need to pump/feed at least every 2 hours in waking hours and at least once during the night as that’s when supply is best established. However as a proud combi feeder from 6 weeks I always did every 4 hours and no night wake up.

Definitely not too late! Go for it. It's the absolute best nutrition you can give your child.

It's not too late, slightly different situation for me but I stopped breastfeeding for several weeks when DS was new and then started again. As PP have said, I'd get in touch with your HV or breastfeeding support service. I also recommend taking your baby to bed for a while and snuggle them up to you skin to skin with access to your breast whenever they want feeding. Pumping in between feeds helps too. This is how I relactated and it was very effective. Good luck!

Thanks everyone that's encouraging! Tried tonight but he was so desperate for food I just went with the bottle. A bit nervous to start bf but will find out more about combi feeding
