1 yr old doesn't like cows milk - how to replace breastfeeds during day?

The last couple of days I've offered cow's milk to my 1 year old. She's always refused a bottle/formula/expressed milk. She doesn't seem fussed on the cows milk and spits most of it out so far.
I want to replace the mid morning and mid afternoon breastfeeds now (happy to keep morning and bedtime).
Should I offer her some yoghurt/cheese as a snack at these times? Just water and not worry about milk? Persevere with the cow's milk for a bit longer?
I read if you are still BF 4 times a day they are getting enough calcium etc so assuming I would need to provide her with extra if only aiming to feed twice a day.
TIA

Just water/snacks will be fine. Or nothing if your baby doesn't want anything then. She'll eat plenty of food and breastmilk at other times of day.

Just a drink and a snack would be fine.

My two had the toddler follow on milk (they liked it so much they asked for it until they were about 5! - obviously sparingly). Could you try that? It is is more similar to breast milk than cows milk.

Ok thanks so just 2 breastfeeds a day is ok? Do I need to make a conscious effort for the snacks to be calcium rich?

@AlwaysLatte I'm not sure I can face buying a different type of milk for it to probably be refused again 😂

Water and snacks are fine. Go ahead and replace.

As for cows milk, my daughter will take it on cereal but won't drink it now. She much prefers her brother's soya milk.

I joke that she had the best now doesn't want the rest.

(Before I get flamed, my use of the word best here relates to the milk I made being tailored specifically to her likes and needs and is not a comment on breast vs formula or intended to start that debate)

Nah. Snack as she likes.

My son is entirely dairy free due to allergies. He has fortified soya milk twice a day but no other dairy. He's fine

Great thanks everyone. Yes she has cereal and porridge etc with cows milk just always only ever drunk water from a cup nothing else!

I think you can get follow on milk in small cartons (single serving).

My milk and cheese avoiding nephew loves those flavoured straws. He'll happily drink a glass of milk through one of those. www.sainsburys.co.uk/gol-ui/product/milk-flavoured-milk/quick-milk-magic-sipper---banana-5x6g

We went yogurt, cheese and water from 9 months as starting childcare. At about 18 months she started liking milk so I try and remember evening milk but haven't really got into the routine.

KatieKat88 · 30/08/2020 06:58

Have you tried the milk at different temperatures? Mine is only 9 months old but I'm praying for an easy transition with it cold straight from the fridge (foolish to hope for I'm guessing) Grin

If she's happy having milk in porridge, cereal etc and you're giving yogurt and cheese as snacks then I really don't think you need to worry about her not drinking milk. DS gave it up completely during the day at a similar age and switched to water. He still gets plenty of calcium in his diet so no harm done
