Breastfeeding & daktarin oral gel

Looking for advice from anyone who has breastfed and had thrush with a newborn. I dont have symptoms myself but my 13 day old has a white tongue health visitor has been and seen her and said its thrush so I've rang the gp and they've prescribed daktarin oral gel I made sure to tell them I'm breastfeeding as I would need treating too but gp said to just use the oral gel on my nipples too. Will this work or should I go get the cream myself? I did send my partner back to the pharmacy to ask for the cream but they said its only a 3% chance itll pass to me from little one to me which I'm finding hard to believe. Also my little one is feeding a lot and the gel should be used after a feed but as soon as I give it she wants another feed. I've tried waiting till shes had more milk and same thing happens, or she will fall asleep while feeding then giving her the gel wakes her up and she wants another feed Confused will my milk just be washing it away?
Thank you!

DS had this at a week old and trust me you don't want it to pass to you, it was so painful (he'd already shredded my nipples with his tongue tie), I'd definitely get the cream for you.

My kids both had it but only one was given the gel. I didn’t catch it either time but I’m aware it’s very painful to get nipple thrush .

You should both be treated at the same time to prevent reinfection. Below are the nice guidelines

The oral gel isn’t effective on the nipples, you need to be treated with daktarin 2% cream. If GP won’t prescribe you can buy it over the counter.
It’s such a shame GP has given you the runaround!

@VixxieRae following with interest as I have the same problem with my 3 weeks old. We both have trush and it's very painful. Have you managed to get rid of it?

VixxieRae · 24/08/2020 08:09

@Grainedesesame nope still have it Confused I ended up going back to the drs as I started up with symptoms too a few days later. I now have the cream and the tablets and there is still no sign of little ones shifting at all but my symptoms have gone within a few days. Dont let them fob you off if they say you dont need to be treated, you absolutely do! The second dr I spoke to was appalled I hadn't been treated from the beginning as you just pass it back and forth between you and baby otherwise.
