Perfect prep bottles in fridge?

Hi all,

Just wondering - can perfect prep bottles be pre-made and stored in fridge? Thinking if baby is being minded for the day - would be handy to premix formula and chill it for reheating.
Also, how long do you leave a perfect prep bottle if you're out and about? I have the thermal bottle sleeves to pop them into to keep warm(ish).

Thanks in advance!

I've made a few single bottles and then refrigerated them, normally unintentionally when baby has nodded off while I'm making them. Cool them immediately after preparation before putting in the fridge. I can't see an issue really but if I were making a few bottles it would probably be quicker to just line them up and boil the kettle.

As for going out and about, bottles can be kept at room temperature for between 1-2 hours depending on what you read. If baby was very little or preemie/vulnerable I'd be more cautiously sticking to the lower time limit. Milk is most 'dangerous' at warm/room temperature as that's the perfect temperature for bacteria to multiply. If you need to have it out for longer, I would prepare, rapidly chill and refrigerate then take it out in a cool bag, which I think is advised to be safe for four hours. You can then heat up in hot water (tommee tippee do a flask)

Anything longer than that or if you're in any doubt then you're probably best taking out empty sterilised bottles and the pre-made formula cartons/bottles. I still use them now for ease and DD is 9 months :)

Thank you very much! This might sound like a silly question but if you're making a run of bottles for the fridge, can you just make them all on boiling water and then rapidly cool in basin of cold water or do you use a boiling water / cold water mix? If you use cold water, can it be from tap or should it be boiled and cooled first?

The whole point of the prep is it makes it easier to make bottles as they are needed Confused

Any water used in bottles should be freshly boiled and then cooled, not tap water. Bottles should be made freshly and used immediately rather than made as a batch and then stored in the fridge, although this was acceptable a number of years ago.

Thanks, I'm aware that it's best practice to make bottle fresh and that's the reason I have purchased perfect prep rather than making all bottles in advance. However, our local crèche insists that all bottles be pre-made and sent with child daily so am trying to establish how it would be possible for me to do that as well as making things more convenient for if baby being minded away from home.
