How long until I see improvement after tongue tie division?

DD was born a week ago and is breastfed. The feeding is SO painful, despite visits from the lactation consultant. DD was diagnosed as having a posterior tongue tie, which has now been divided. It's day 1 since division and I'm not seeing any real differences. I'm wondering how long will I have to wait? The pain, especially whilst latching, is so dreadful. I need to know when I'll see the rainbow. Thank you

Hey - is this your first baby / TT division?

One week in is v early on the BF journey and in my experience the worst soreness lasts for a few weeks before your nips adjust, regardless of a snip. I expect it could be quite hard to know what is different because of TT snip and what is just you and the baby getting used to feeding?

I have had four babies and BF them all, three of them have had tongue tie to varying degrees though they were divided later 10/6/2 weeks. Only with one of them did I notice an instant change in how feeding felt (the one which was divided at 10 weeks) and I suspect that was because I had more of an experience of his feeding pattern / latch to compare it to iykwim.

I think BF is hard and the first few weeks are usually the most painful!

Is the lactation consultant able to come and see the latch again?

@whatdoesntkillus thank you for your reply- this is actually my second baby, and second TT division, so I should know better! I can't remember when the pain went away the first time but optimistically hoped it was 2 weeks. Is it longer then? My friends are saying around 6 for them...Sad
