Boiling and leave for 30 mins?

Does anyone know why it is that you can't make up a formula feed straight after the kettle is boiled?

Normally I wait 30mins for the water to cool, but I was thinking about it today and am not really sure why?

I know you're not supposed to wait longer than that as the water needs to be at least 70c to kill the bacteria in the formula.

I remember reading something that if the water is too hot it can denature the vitamins in the formula. No idea how true that is though.

I’ve always thought it’s to minimise the risk of burning the baby’s mouth? Water that has sat for 30 mins has less risk of accidental burning than something freshly boiled.

That was my understanding too @IShineAShoe

Ended up using pre-made because, although it was expensive, I couldn’t cope with the faff and stress of powdered formula.
