My 6 week old baby has terrible wind

She is BF - and suffers terribly with wind ... it wakes her up at night, and I just don't know how to help her. any ideas? I have tried Infacol and Weleda Camomilla granules, but nothing seems to help ... it is preventing her from sleeping properly during the night, and causes crying fits during the day. I know it is wind because she pulls her legs up etc. and then she is happy if she finally manages to pass the wind (whether by burping or the other end ....)

Any advice welcome!

Our health visitor recommended giving our DD a teaspoon of camomille (sp?) tea or fennel tea before each feed (she was BF) and it worked wonders. About 12 weeks she decided she didn't like it anymore (she must have developed taste buds by then!) but it worked wonders and we didn't have wind problems after that.

Is it ok to give herbal tea to a 6 wk old? and did you give it cold or warm?

My 9wk old has been the same since birth.

Try lying her on her changing mat and holding her legs by the calves. Once her knees feel relaxed 'bicycle' her legs, then push her knees up so her thighs are perpendicular to the mat and move both knees together left and right, then push both her knees together up to her chest. As long as you wait for her legs to relax before moving them you'll be amazed at how well this shifts farts. I do it a few times a day - my LO goes red and strains when we're in the process but now grins like a loon as the farts flow!

Yes - I was surprised as well but I checked with the doctor and he said it was a great idea.
I used to make a bottle of it in the evening, let it cool to room temperature and then give her a spoonful (usually in a syringe) before she fed.
One cup/bottle was enough to get me through the day.
I made it quite weak.
I used M&S organic camomile tea - but she was my first baby and I wanted her to have the best
