Uh oh one side Is now sore

After some advice really. Dd is 6 days old and has a tongue tie. She is difficult to breastfeed not just because of the tongue tie but because she gets super frantic coming on to the breast. My older DD could not latch at all as always so enraged so we fed her EBM/formula. New baby is still frantic but can get her to latch on in a ravenous way. This is not a case of missing hunger cues - we have to wake her to feed half the time and she hardly ever gets near crying with hunger stage. But she cries as you try to get her into bf position and goes a bit loopy so it's really hard to take enough time to get the perfect latch.

One side is now hurting quite a bit where we obviously did a feed with a poor latch. I know we have to keep working on getting a deeper latch and also get the tongue tie sorted but I'm worried if I keep feeding on that side it will get so sore I cannot continue.

I am keeping Lansinoh in business and have silver nipple cups for overnight healing. Any other tips to make it through the pain as we keep working on improving technique?!

Bin the cream buy some of these .. expensive but should only need to wear them for a few days to heal. I think they say new one every 24 hours, but you can rinse them under the tap just with water and let them dry out for a short time ( say when you have a shower) then get another day out of them. Honestly will heal any damage, but you can also get sore from being a bit engorged, breast might feel hard or lumpy. Feed on that side again next feed if that's the case! I

Second the hydrogel discs. Pricey but very good. Can get them from Amazon.

If you have a pump, would it be worth giving sore side a break for a couple of days to give nipple a chance to heal? Could pump from that side instead?

I've found this very helpful previously

Brilliant thanks for advice have ordered hydrogels.

Yes I have a good double pump so pumping the bedtime feed tonight while DH feeds from bottle.

The thing is I do want us to both get the practice at bf so need to keep going to a degree!

Goodness knows how I'll get tongue tie snipped during current situation.

Have you tried different feeding positions? I found the rugby ball hold really good in the early days and it also means if you have sore nipples the pressure will be in a different place
Also could try no harm nipple balm - it glides on a bit easier than lansinoh
Congratulations on your new baby Flowers

@ElfCakes at the moment cradle hold and sort of biological nurturing position seem to work best for keeping her calm enough to latch.

It's just frustrating as sometimes it doesn't feel too bad but when she comes off the nipple has wedged a tiny bit and I realise we had it wrong. I'm breaking the latch and trying again if it's really sore obviously.

I just seem to give birth to majorly aggressive feeders!!
