Using a pump/breastfeeding - clueless FTM

Hi, I'm a soon to be FTM just after some advice please.
I plan to breast feed but would also like to try and do the last feed before bedtime using expressed milk (so my husband can do). I am going back to work after 4 months so also thinking attempting to have baby used to bottle as soon as possible would be a good idea.

When can I start using a breast pump? Is it straight away or not?
And (forgive me if this is silly, I really have no idea) how does it work in terms of supply. Say I have been feeding baby all day via breast when she is hungry, will I also have enough 'spare' milk to express ready for my husband to do her evening feed ?

6 weeks after you start breastfeeding. I'd try a manual pump first like the Tommee Tippiee and then an electric one like the Bellababy on amazon. I have both and like them.

Sorry didn't see the last bit. Everyone's supply is different, if you're keen on storing milk then you will need to build a pump routine in, possibly in the morning.

I found it so hard to find time to pump. I had an Elvie pump which was handy because you could just wear it and move around. But if your breastfeeding full time it is really hard.
Your body will adjust to how much milk you make, so as PP said, get into a routine

I didn’t manage to find time to pump until my baby started weaning and I could pump after she had her breakfast. I would sometimes pump one boob while she fed on the other, to get top up feeds when her weight gain was slow, I used a haaka for this usually.

Lots of people do it though, if your baby has a good daytime nap you may manage it. Good luck!
