Can a baby who is combined feeding go off breast milk?

For the last 3 weeks I have been combined feeding my 5 week old baby. And over the last week he seems very unhappy on my breast, pulls faces when he realises its 'that' milk- I dont understand what Im doing wrong?
Can they just go off it?
He never fusses with the formula. When I express and give him a bottle with the breastmilk he also pulls a face.

I have plenty of breastmilk so its not that the problem. Any ideas?

Not heard of that one before sorry. Is he just pulling a face or is he refusing it?

Yes I think it's pretty common. They have to work quite hard to get milk out the breast, often why they take longer to feed at boob than with bottle and the latch is different from silicon to real nipple so might be confusing him.
I would doubt he doesn't like the taste of breast milk and would think it's just the logistics of getting it out.
I'm not an expert tho just BF my LO who was a whinging nightmare so did a lot of google research/webtto BF clubs.
Perhaps there are silicone nipples that provide a more realistic nipple? I honestly don't know
Good luck

I can recommend LaLeche and KellyMom as websites I found reassuring and useful

Hey OP,

I combination fed all of mine and it is quite likely that he is finding it doesn't come out so easily.

It may also be that he is just not as good at feeding at the time of day you're Bf

I never progressed mine from a newborn teat as long as I was BF because my flow was pretty slow and I didn't want BF to be the poor option.

If they ever showed a preference for the bottle, I would get my top off, snuggle in bed with them and give them an afternoon of comfort and BF. Obviously not always possible but it seemed to help.

Also, try and make sure your bottle teats resemble your breasts as much as possible. It was pointed out to me by a well-meaning but slightly tactless MW pointed out that my breasts are much more MAM than Tommy tippee Blush
