Tongue-tie and BF - causes wind?

I'm still on a seemingly endless quest to sort out my baby's colic/wind/reflux/random discomfort.

He's nearly 7 weeks now and has a slight tongue-tie which all the HVs/MWs were very dismissive about. However, he has terrible problems with wind (I can hear him swallowing gulps of air when he feeds sometimes) and isn't always easy to burp, despite me pouring Infacol and gripe water down the poor lad's throat on a regular basis.

Has anyone else had problems like this which were down to tongue-tie? Clutching at straws possibly, although next on the list is the cranial osteopath (despite him being a breech section baby!) ... help!

ds1 was tongue tied and bf, my sisters ds2 the same neither had colic. DS2 bottle, bf and no tongue tied - colic.

if he can't latch properly, I suppose it is a possibility.

Have you thought of getting it fixed?

There is a list of hospitals in the UK where it is done.

My DD had moderate tongue tie & had colic but don't know for certain if these were related ? However, the good news is that once she hit 14 weeks she was colic free & a fab baby. Also, the tongue tie corrected its self by the time she was 1 & a half

here is the list

if you look on the right hand toolbar, you can bring up other pages to inform yourself and take to your GP the next time you make an appt and ask for a referral?

also, i strongly recommend calling one of the breastfeeding helplines to discuss your varied problems and they can also give you ideas of the next practical steps to follow.
