When did cluster feeding stop for you?

My ebf, 7 week old DD cluster feeds every night from about 4-11. I'm desperate for an early night! When did you find that it stopped? Does it stop suddenly? Or do babies gradually bring bedtime forward? At this point with my DS1, I switched to formula (so the cluster feeding stopped) but I don't want to give up yet, this time.

When I google the above question, various websites make it sound as though babies cluster feed for maybe one or two nights and then it settles down again, but this isn't the case for us. Is that normal?

Also, when did you find that baby started to space feeds out into a bit of a more predictable pattern? Every day is still completely random and quite intense. I'd quite like to go to one of the local baby rhyme sessions but I have a feeling I'd just breastfeed throughout, and it'd feel a bit of a waste of time 🤷🏻‍♀️

I think it's very baby dependent but I found that at about the 10 week mark the feeds got more spaced out.
My 15wo will usually have a big feed from about 7-8/8.30pm and then go to sleep (waking every 3 hours or so to feed until he properly wakes up about 7am). This has been happening for around the last 2 weeks. Having said that, he is currently nursing as he won't settle to sleep tonight and has been feeding on and off since 7.30pm so what do I know!

For me cluster feeding stopped around the 4 month mark I think.

Fed for 16 months in the end and really loved it although the first few months were so tough. Sometimes when I felt overwhelmed by cluster feeding I rang the National breastfeeding helpline and they were brilliant. Good luck Thanks

At about 10 weeks I could bring bedtime forward to 10pm by starting the feed at 9:15pm, so still a long feed before sleep but no longer the long series of cluster feeds that she had been doing.

It really depends on the baby. My first only did it for about 2 weeks, but friends have had it for 10 weeks or more. Unfortunately there no easy answer :(

Thank you for the replies. I may have another month or two of this then! I'm so determined to see it through this time, as the breastfeeding has been so much more successful second time round, I just wish I could have an early night to set me up for the night ahead!
