No milk in the daytime- is this ok??

DS has not really been having any milk in the daytime - he is BF first thing (about 6.30am) and then again at about 4pm. Then he is BF at bedtime (7pm) and through the night probably has about 3/4 BF's. He is 8 months so having lots of solids in the day.
Is this ok?
I have returned to work now, and I posted a while back about what to do when I returned to work and got some helpful advice from MN, and most people suggested expressing in the day. This hasn't been possible, and so I got some emergency formula in. Grandparents have offered him some formula in the day, but he doesn't really want that either(can't blame him, it tastes horrid ).
Anyway, sorry for long ramble, basically I just want to know if this seems ok? I obviusly can't tell how much milk he is getting, but he is putting on weight and seems very well. Am I worrying about nothing?

That sounds about the same as my ds (9 months) except he doesn't have milk through the night. Some days he doesn't have his first morning bf until mid-morning (if dh gets up with him and just gives him breakfast to let me lie in) and those days will happily go to 5pm or so without another milk feed.

Will he take water or anything during the day? Yoghurt at lunchtime?

I think as long he's taking some liquid in some form during the day it's fine. Maybe he doesn't even need any other liquid, I'm finding the transition from liquid to solid food a little confusing myself!

Glad its not just me that is confused bookthief! Should have said he has loads of water in the day, and yoghurts as well. Perhaps he is making up for lost time at night!

Ah, well that should be ok then I think. I've managed to crack ds's water reluctance at last (my mother will be so pleased - she's obsessed with babies drinking cool, boiled water) which has made me very happy with nursery starting very soon

What is it with mums and cooled, boiled water?? I have had that since DS was about 4 weeks old!

Mum - shouldn't he be having water yet?
Me - no mum he is breastfed, he doesn't need it
Next day...
Mum - shouldn't he be having water yet?
Me - no mum he is breastfed, he doesn't need it
Repeat.....

Good luck with nursery
