5 month old shakes violently

Hi,

My 21 week old shakes and trembles violently when I'm feeding him (he's now bottle fed) this has happened a couple of times.

It's a full body shake but mostly noticeable in his arms. Like an all over spasm

Has this ever happened to anyone else? It's almost as though I gave him too much milk or something?

He's sort of sleepy when this happens, I stop giving him milk and check his airway etc but as soon as I stop feeding him he comes back to normal again.

I've mentioned this in hospital (he was in for a long stay due to being underweight, issues with breastfeeding) the doctor didn't seem concerned.

Has anyone had this? My DH googled and said it's normal but I'm scared to google it

My DS has this at around the same age - started just as he was getting sleepy at the end of feed. His entire body tremoured if I recall correctly. Lasted a couple of seconds at most but nearly frightened me to death when it first happened. Ended up seeing paed consultant when he was nearly 6 months but he has grown out of them by them! All checks were fine, he is now a strapping 11 yo with no issues. Smile

Suggest if it happens again, try filming and show to your GP for reassurance.

@keepmoving thanks for replying! I've been beside myself with worry, it sounds the same as what your DS had, it always happens when he is sleepy at the end of the feed

As we all do I looked online for an explanation and scared myself further! But did find quite a few instances of these sleep tremors. I keep all the DC stuff with their red books so double checked the letters to and from consultant, for BS it was just shaking not spasms.
