Hi all, not sure if I am posting in the right section here or not ?
I am 39+1 weeks pregnant atm and hopefully planning on breastfeeding once baby here, but .... I haven't noticed any changes in my boobs yet. No soreness, no swelling, no leaking NOTHING. Is this normal ?? ... I know it is colostrum 1st and then milk comes in but I'm worried what if there is nothing at all there when baby arrives or does your body only produce it once labour starts ?? TIA Xx

Day 3 or 4 after the birth. There is colostrum before then, but it doesn’t ‘come in’ it’s just there. Tummies are tiny (marble sized?) and they only drink tiny amounts.

When your milk comes in you wake up looking and feeling like Jordan.

I had nothing before birth. Never really saw my colostrum in the first few days and milk came in around day 4. Baby maintained birth weight on first weigh in and gained nearly a full lb within the first 10 days. So even though I didn't see much colostrum or milk there was plenty getting through to my DS for sure.

Before my son was born, I could just about get a tiny amount of clear liquid (assuming colostrum) from my nipple if I squeezed really hard - only did that once or twice as it wasn't very pleasant! No leaking at all and no visible changes in breast appearance.

Baby arrived on a Thursday and on the Sunday morning I woke up with a dull ache in my breasts, similar to what happens before my period. Within an hour they had turned into huge, red hot, throbbing boulders, growing in front of my eyes and the milk was streaming down my front.

I had vaguely read/heard about the milk coming in but the reality was quite spectacular. So don't worry, I'm sure it will come!

Wishing you a smooth and complication-free labour.
