The baby books i've read say that when the teething pain is really bad, many babies don't eat as much as they usually do. Colin (13 mo) eats large quantities, and sometimes when in the midst of teething cuts way back for a few days to a week.

my ds too - I thought he'd gone off food and milk last week - but yesterday a little toth emerged - his first - so I guess that's what was wrong with him last week.
phew - i thought he'd gone of my cooking!

same here... was really worried about it, even posted on here that maybe I should be cutting back on her milk... now teething appears to have settled and her appetite's back. make sure she has enough liquid to drink though to stop dehydration. if you're still worried phone your hv or gp. Hope she's better soon

same here, ds struggling with food and milk at the moment, and waking in night. Yesterday, I felt a sharp bit poking through bottom gum, how long do they usually take o come once you feel the start of them??

thanks everyone...... i was worried about it she was ok with her 1st but this one seems to be really troubling her she is also waking in night and she has never done this before......

alibo.... dont take long at all maybe a day or so my dd is ok until it actually breaks through that is when she has all the bother with sleep and food/bottles also her nappies go quite runny (lovely lol) xx

I think it's the act of breaking through the gum that is the sorest bit - once through it should be ok - till the next one of course - which I think ds is getting now. Up at 3.30am this morning and didn't really settle into a deep sleep till 10am (I gave him a tiny bit of calpol)
