Hangry baby

My newborn of nearly 2 weeks old tomorrow, feeds really well. The issue is; he feeds poops and sleeps! Soon as he wakes for a feed he begins to scream the place down. Until I run to the prep machine make his bottle and serve him 🙈
I Have been using actimil newborn milk which I changed today for actimil hungrier baby formula...

Anyways I don't see the difference if anything he seems more hungry???

Has anyone used hungrier baby formula and how do you rate it!??

Dont use hungry milk for a 2 week old, it's not suitable for that age despite what the tub says. It has the same calories but is harder to digest. Go back to first milk and feed on demand

How much is he taking in each bottle? Did you speak to your HV before switching milk?

Agree with pp dont use hungry baby milk and feed on demand. Yes it's hard but this phase will pass

My first kid was like this, once I got use to his rhythm and could prep milk before he woke. He is such a wee little thing just now you just have to accept that he will scream sometimes,

Yeah they’re not designed to wait for milk.

Try to recognise his hunger cues quicker? Check his hands as if the grip is not loose he’s getting hungry apparently. Smacking lips etc is also a sign of hunger.

He is taking 4oz... at a to me- the midwife said to offer But he doesn't seem to want anymore after 4oz as he falls asleep!..
tonight's been the first trial with hungry baby stuff- and seems heavier and struggling with pops ... so I'll go back to the other tub!.. 🙈 I just want him to be fulfilled!

Give him the amount he wants and go back to first milk. That's what babies do - eat, sleep, poo!

That’s what babies do. Please take him off the hungrier baby milk. Are you doing paced feeding and offering more milk if he drains the bottle? If he drains the bottle regularly then you need to be making bigger bottles.

OP has already said she's going back to the original formula.

I have gone back to the originally first baby milk - however if the hungrier baby powder is so bad, I wonder why they advertise that you can use it from newborn? And when it should be used, and what is this powdered purpose? As it doesn't state on the tub!.. my only interpretation would be, it would satisfy hunger enough for you baby to wake up peacefully🙈 my intentions were so my baby was less hangry.

After my trial run of it- I gave my son two bottles of the stuff at 4oz, the only difference is he felt heavier when i winded him?

I will go back to what I'm doing and offering more.

Try paced feeding, it’s a much better way for newborns to feed as they control what they want rather than guzzling a bottle and being uncomfortably full.

He’s not hangry, he’s only been out of his warm, safe place for 2 weeks and he doesn’t understand all the new feelings yet.

He just has a tiny tummy and needs feeding small amounts and frequently . It gets better they grow quickly and first milk is much better and easier to digest xx

My HV said that only first mills are properly tested to the standards needed for babies, newborns.

Hungry milk has a different milk protein profile. It has more casein than whey whereas first milk has more whey than casein. Casein is harder to digest so can cause stomach issues like constipation. There is also no evidence it makes any difference to a hungry baby.

Forgot to say - hungry milk has the same calories as first milk so if they take less of it due to feeling too full then they will take fewer calories which you dont really want

I had my heart set on breast feeding and had all the equipment (pumps etc) ready!.. however it didn't go to plan!.. therefore I have moved over to formula and it's learning all about this now!.,? However the prep machine are a god/send 😊x

He sounds like every other baby I know. Their tummies are about the size of their clenched fists. What is it that is upsetting you about the situation? It sounds pretty routine for a 2 week old to me.
