Hi all - can anyone advice me on this? I am going to a wedding on saturday and want to take a couple of ebm bottles for ease. At the moment i have ebm frozen, if i defrost it overnight in the fridge on friday night and put it into sterilised bottles on saturday morning, assuming i can keep the bottles chilled in my changing bag, until what point/time on saturday can i feed these to my dd? thanks!

I don't have any idea, but my guess would be that you could use it up to 24hrs from when you take it out of the freezer. Could you take one out the night before and a couple out on the saturday morning, and take a couple of empty (but closed up) sterilised bottles with you to keep the milk frozen as long as poss?

I wasn't far out - kristina's link says 24hrs from defrosted to dscarding.

thanks - I guess my question (perhaps stupid) is about how long the bottle itself stays sterile, rather than the length of time the milk is OK? if the milk is in the bottle and it is closed up - will it stay sterile/OK to give for a whole day?

dont worry to much bout the sterile bottle. iv got frozen bm in freezer in bottles and when i come to use them i just use the bottle the milk is in. iv stopped sterilsing bottles, expresser etc about 4 wks ago and dd as been fine. as long as the bottle is cleaned well you should be ok. enjoy the wedding x

Yes I think the bottle will stay sterile. As far as I know, you can keep bottles sterile all day by taking out of the steriliser and making them up empty, including putting lid on, then leave that way until ready to use. If you're really worried about this, you could always buy those disposible steri-bottle things (Tommee Tippee?), although I never found the teats very good (too slow, wrong shape) for DS. If doing this, it's worth buying some to try before the big day, just in case they're no good for you.

Enjoy the wedding!

...the same would go for your sterilised bottle filled with milk - it will be fine all day if you keep it cool.
