Establishing breastfeeding at 6 weeks

Hi

Due to various things I have found breastfeeding difficult. My DS is now 6 weeks and I feel like we are finally getting somewhere which is great. Up to now I have been mostly expressing milk, along with offering my breasts and using formula when required. We have just done our first ever 24 hours with no bottles, after a lactation consultant came yesterday to give me some advice. However, I have noticed that my son has not passed any urine since about 10am (which is unusual for him as his nappies are always wet), he has done a poop though. He seems quite content and is taking milk from me every couple of hours. Should I be concerned about the lack of wet nappies? I take it at 6 weeks if he was hungry I would know about it by him crying, unlike when a newborn when they just go very sleepy? I really want to succeed with breastfeeding but I struggle when I don't know how much (I.e. the actual quantity) of milk he is getting and worry that he isn't getting enough. Does anyone have any advice? Thanks Smile

I'd personally not be worried and just keep on offering him the breast but if you are worried the National breastfeeding helpline are really good. Well done on getting this far Thanks
