Storing milk. Need help, please ❤️ Iv only pumped 30 ml (first time Iv ever Expressed milk today ) my baby is 28 days old and I want to Freeze my milk to keep it for when she is older and Drinking out of a bottle, I really don't want to waste the Sterilized bags by using one bag for 30 mL I would like to store at least 4oz per bag. How do I go about adding all my milk up from different days? What's safe and not safe? Can I open and add to Sterilized bags from the freezer? January 2020

Once it’s defrosted you can’t re freeze it. Do you mean add liquid to the frozen? Because that would cause thaw in the frozen milk. I’d maybe just use the bag for this one and then aim for 4oz on the next one. You could re sterilise the bag rather than throw it out?

I used to store in fridge in separate bottles per pumping session. Then combine into bag for freezer when I had the amount needed.

I’ve been using an ice cube tray which has been a game changer for storage as I use a haakaa pump so the volumes I get are usually 20-40ml at a time. I add to the tray until it’s full then at the end of the day I pop them all out into a big resealable sandwich bag that I keep in the freezer. I worked out that each cube is about 8ml if it’s full to the top so then I know to defrost 4 cubes for 1 oz, 8 cubes for 2oz etc. I just wash the tray with hot soapy water and/or put it through the dishwasher to keep it clean.
