DS is 2 weeks old and is currently drinking 4oz of milk at nearly every feed which is every roughly 2.5/3 hours. He's putting on weight nicely but I feel like he still wants more after some feeds! He has a dummy and spits it out and whinges so that leads me to believe he does want more because he loves him dummy normally.. do I try him on 5 oz? I'm sure it's too soon to start on hungry baby milk as we didn't start DD on it until 3 months and she was drinking 5-6oz then! I know every baby is different but I don't want to feel as though I'm over feeding baby. Help!

He's on Aptamil one btw! Grin

He's too young to give him 'hungry baby milk' as I think the formula can be quite heavy on their little tummies. I don't think there's any problem increasing the volume of normal formula though. You'll know he's overfed if he gets sick, in which case cut back amount slightly

I have a 3.5 week old and he’s a much ‘hungrier’ baby than my DC1.

He’s currently on 5oz and fed every 3-4hrs. Some feed during the day he seems to want 1-2oz more an hr after the feed. But I always try to offer him the dummy and a sip of water if he fusses before offering him more formula.

Does yours sleep ok? I’ve read that sleepy deprived babies tend to overfeed... but I don’t think mine is as he struggles to stay awake long enough during the day and he sleeps from 11/11:30pm -5:30am most days.

I was concerned at the beginning but he doesn’t spill up milk and seems so much settled after so I just keep on doing this. I think as long as they seem happy and settled after the feed, then it shouldn’t be an issue.

Oh my MW suggested ‘parallel feeding’ to mimic breastfeeding. Keep the bottle parallel when trying to feed so it’d make it slightly harder for babies to drink the milk instead of holding the bottle tilting down if that makes sense. HTH.
