Firstly congratulations on your little one. Just keep feeding it’s a demand and supply thing by increasing demand increases supply. There is no reputable scientific evidence for milk producing foods so eat normally and be kind to yourself, try to rest as much as you can, new babies are tough work.
If you can access a lactation consultant/ specialist to check baby’s latch and positioning during feeding that might help reassure your further.
From personal experience breastfeeding was way harder than I expected it to be so I’d really recommend talking to some who knows they are on about.
Best of luck x

In a nutshell, eat plenty, rest as much as you can and keep breastfeeding your baby often.

Do you have midwife led breastfeeding clinics that you could access via your hospital? That's a good port of call before paying for a private breastfeeding consultant.

This website gives brilliant advice (recommended to me by a midwife): kellymom.com/hot-topics/low-supply/

I'm interested in how you know you were only producing 1oz. Were you expressing? It's a little too early postpartum to be expressing, much better to get your supply established first, and you can only do that by feeding on demand, as much as baby wants. Also, you might only be able to express 1oz, but your baby is definitely getting more than that, they are very efficient. I could express nothing at all with DS2, but he thrived & was taking exactly what he needed. As long as they are gaining weight & have lots of wets nappies you are doing fine.

I agree with the pp about talking to a lactation consultant. But in the meantime, if you really want to breastfeed, stop all formula & just concentrate on breastfeeding. The more your baby feeds, the more milk you'll make. No special foods are necessary, just make sure you are eating enough.

Hey here's what I'm doing to up my supply:
Dietary: Oats (oatcakes, flapjacks, oat milk etc), apricots, salmon are all good for milk.

Pumping: Every 3 hours.

Skin to skin with baby and put him on breast whenever he is hungry, even when you plan to give him formula after.

This site has lots of good advice: kellymom.com/hot-topics/low-supply/

Good luck!

Remember to drink lots of fluids but not caffeinated products as they're diuretics. Breastfeeding is thirsty work so always have a drink or two to hand

You can't really tell how much milk you're producing by expressing eg some women produce plenty but cannot express a drop.

It's anecdotal but oats make my milk production go crazy. I cannot eat them because my supply goes into overdrive. Even 6 months in. So it's worth a go.

The only way to definitely increase supply is to let your baby feed as much as possible. They will stimulate your supply to grow.
