Baby miserable after tongue tie cut

Our 6 day old baby had his posterior tongue tie cut today. He seemed okay immediately afterwards and fed while the consultant was with us, but since then has been very fractious, crying and screaming when I offer him the breast, generally seeming out of sorts. He will feed but it’s a long drawn out process of him being very upset, and I’m finding it upsetting.
Is this normal in other people’s experiences? Consultant said he may be a big out of sorts for a day or so, but I have first time mum anxiety and currently wishing I hadn’t had it done :(

I found the first 48 pretty rough but then things started improving

It'll be sore so it is normal. My baby seemed to cry all afternoon. Also feeding will feel different and they have to use a new method so will definitely be frustrated with that.

Do not feel guilty you have done the right thing! I'm assuming you are breastfeeding? If you hadn't had it done maybe it would have effected weight gain, pain for you, possibly speech problems in future and loads of other things.

Take each hour as it comes and in a few days it will be behind you. Just see if you can catch a glimpse that it is healing properly and not getting infected or anything.

You done the right thing for your baby, honestly.
Aww bless he's just a little sore that's all. If he doesn't improve call back the consultant but I bet it's just because it's a bit tender x

Thanks for your responses. He seems happier today, and I just had a feed where he latched in immediately!
However am now currently in hosp waiting to see if he needs to be kept in for jaundice 😓. Fingers crossed we can go home.
