How do I move to combination feeding?

9 week old, failure to thrive with low weight . Seen a million people regarding latch, tongue tie (there is none), seen 3 lactation consultants and we just can't get baby to get a deep latch.

Currently I'm breastfeeding and pumping and then giving the expressed milk and im wrecked from it all and the expense of seeing all these people, driving to all different appointments, hiring hospital grade pump. I'd like to move to combination feeding but im not sure how I do it.

Do I just stop pumping initially and use formula to top up every feed or can I replace certain feeds with formula- example one afternoon feed and before bed feed and just breastfeed the rest of the time?

With my first baby I topped up after feeds to begin with until she had reached a healthy weight and then started giving a bottle at a certain time of day. I couldn't get any definitive guidance on the 'right' way to top up.
Is replacing a pumping session with putting your baby directly on the breast an option?
The one piece of advice that would have saved a huge amount of my sanity when pumping to suppliment my baby was that pump parts don't need sterilising after every use, or even sterilising at all. They can be stored in an air tight bag in the fridge between uses and washed in hot soapy water every 24 hrs.

Agree with the poster above. Try feeding one feed at a time. Getting another person to feed with bottle when you are 'out' helps too.

Just wanted to say go slowly with the transition it will be easier on your body. Less chance of blocked ducts and mastitis. Sorry not trying to scare or confuse just don't be in a rush to be 50:50 feeding or whatever straight away.
