Hallo! For a couple of weeks now, during the days especially, my nearly four month old daughter has started to take a very long time to finish her bottle. She'll drink about half in doublequick time, and then start mucking about - pushing the bottle out of her mouth, then shoving it back in forcefully (I'm holding the bottle, by the way - I don't make her feed herself!), chomping down on the teat, making impatient little grunty noises, moving her head from side to side. She's clearly still hungry because when I take the bottle away, she gets pissed off, so I don't think it's that I'm force-feeding her or anything.

It's not especially bothersome in itself but I wonder whether she's trying to tell me something: I suspect she might be starting to teeth around now, could this have anything to do with it? Also, does this sort of behaviour at feeds indicate that I should start thinking about weaning her soon?

Any advice appreciated muchly.

It is more likely that she is teething.. also she is now starting to notice the wonderful world around her and be more interested with that. Have you tried using a Nursiong Necklace to keep her attention and focus her on something whilst feeding?

teethign sounds likely, but are you still using the same flow teat you sued when she was a newborn? wonder if she's impatient with the slow flow?

(and is def not a sign of being ready for weaning, you are way off that )

thanks both. I'll have a look at that nursing necklace. MrsBadger - she is on a faster flow teat, so I don't think it's that. Stand corrected about the weaning thing - a couple of people RL have been asking me when I'm going to start, which is what made me wonder if I was missing something (especially as she's now started waking in the night again, though I had assumed that's teething too)

My DS did that about the same time and I resorted to feeding him just before his naps in the end, so at least I get a couple of good BFs a day in. he's just not interested once we're downstairs now, all BF feeds are in the bedroom with the blind down!
