Newborn feeding

I have a three week old baby who is FF but have the following issues

They overfeed and end up being sick. Like project vomiting sick. It’s not everyday or after each feed but is common for her to do so.

I’m using the tommy tippee closer to nature bottles and a lot of milk leaks from the teat or her mouth so I spend more time cleaning her up!

She doesn’t always burp after a feed, I informed both MW and HV who said to keep her upright for 20 mins if no burp.

Is she doesn’t burp chances are she gets gas and then I end up either cycling her legs or rubbing her stomach.

She’s gaining weight and it’s not after each feed but it is a common occurrence for her.

just not sure what to do. Should I switch the formula or bottles?

She also cluster feeds sometimes which I assume is when she’s amid a growth spurt. She has no set pattern for how much milk she will take. I generally make around 3oz but she doesn’t always finish it all. On a night she drinks less so I make 2oz but again she doesn’t always drink this.

I’ll speak to my HV but is this normal?

Forgot to add she often gets hiccups, at least once a day, which I assume is from drinking to fast. When I feed her she tends to drink too fast like it’ll disappear if she doesn’t! I hold her upright for a feed.

My DS was like this, he would gulp it so fast and end up coughing, no idea why but he calmed down as he got a few weeks older.
When you say overfeed until sick, does she fall asleep while she is drinking and using the teat as like a dummy?

We also use the TT closer to nature bottles and up until a few weeks ago, he was leaking a lot of milk out of the side of his mouth as he was feeding, it’s totally normal and they grow out of it as they get bigger and are able to swallow fully/not fall asleep half way through a feed!

Infact I can’t say i’ve noticed him doing it over the last couple of weeks!

Everything is very normal!

She sometimes falls asleep but not all the time.

"paced feeding" was my solution to this, have a look at a few techniques to see if there's a bit of it that helps.
It does get better and you have to police the amounts less as they grow... there's no WAY mine could take 90ml at 3 weeks! I think we were still at about the 50-60ml stage then, max. Just feed more frequently. Basically get it checked (frequency, amount) by HV.

DungeonDweller · 27/08/2019 08:20

Additionally.. length if feed should be checked too.
At 3 weeks and a max of 60ml (some usually left) I think a good quick feed was about 50mins? Typically about an hour. Burping many different ways in the same feed (on knee, over knee, shoulder, walked around, bicycle legs). You'll find what works for yours

I was wrong, we were on a 2oz (so, 60ml) feed every 3hrs minimum at 3-4, weeks but the notes DH and I made for the hospital say we were throwing away a half Oz most feeds before it expired (kept a log as some medical issues meant baby might be readmitted)... so actually 45ml ISH every feed.

Every baby is different tho

This is the paced feeding guide that helped us in an almost identical situation at the same age: kellymom.com/bf/pumpingmoms/feeding-tools/bottle-feeding/

In particular, the bits about allowing the baby to draw in the test and control the feed (in light of your comments about over feeding op)
