When is it safe to give water to babies.
My 4month old feeds every 2hrs in the day but sleeps from 10pm to 8am. Sometimes he drinks all the 7oz other times he has a half a bottle, can I give him a few mouth falls of water encase he is just thirsty.

If he's thirsty, he'll be getting enough fluid from the milk. The only time you should give water to a FF baby is if it's very hot (which it rarely is in this bloody country)

As your HV for up to date advice.
Personally, I gave my son sips of water from an early age as he was born in last year's heat wave and we lived in a top floor flat 🥵
It also seemed to help a lot with his wind and stomach discomfort.

Unless it’s very hot and baby is formula fed they don’t really require extra water. What makes you think he is thirsty?

Only thinks he is thirsty as he is a very hot baby. He will drink his 7oz bottle then the next 1 will be 5oz and then the next 1 will be hardly anything. He wants something every 2hrs from 9am to 10pm

If he’s formula fed then every two hours at four months old is quite frequent - so if he’s had a 7 ounce bottle and then is fed again after just two hours that’s probably why he only wants 5 - if there was a three hour/three and a half hour gap then he would probably drink 6 or 7 again. You say he wants it but if he’s drinking hardly any by the third bottle he probably doesn’t really want it. I would space out the feeds. Not sure what you mean by hot baby? Does he have a temp?
