How can I prevent this happening again?

Which foods are good for milk production?

And what shall I avoid?

He's 15-16 weeks BTW.

Thank you determination.
And breastfeding does take determination.

I had a diet which included a huge amount of chocolate muffins in the first few months of breastfeeding. And lost weight, because I have the giant greedy child from heaven. Damn you, weaning....

PS TankEngine - am not actually recommending this, nor being smug... Would say that breastfeeding does require determination, but also relaxation. The more relaxed you can be about it, I think, the easier it gets. Hence my prescription for remote controls, footstools, and bubble bath. Plus the occasional medicinal chocolate muffin.

No worries. Frankly, I'm a lazy old slattern. That's my prescription for life in general...

My friend stopped producing milk the month before she got her first period post-partum(She was bfing excluxively for 5 months at that time)

She kept putting him on, called the lactation consultants, expressed in between feeding every 2 hours, and nothing helped.

Not to get you worried, but could your hormones be playing a part a role in all this? My friends doctors don't know why she stopped producing, but all they can think of is that her change in hormones caused it.
