5 month old doesn’t seem interested in milk

I’m worried about my 5 month old DS. He seemed to breastfeed non stop in the early weeks, which I know is normal, but now it’s a battle getting him to drink milk. He was born 25th centile, went up to 50th, then went on ‘nursing strike’ at 3 months and dropped back to the 25th centile. We struggled getting him to accept the breast from then on and he preferred the bottle so he is now fed expressed milk and formula. He has around 18-20oz throughout the day in a bottle (usually around 10oz expressed milk and the rest formula) and also has one breastfeed in the night and first thing in a morning (don’t know how much he gets during these feeds, they last around 25 mins). He will only drink around 2-3oz at a time from a bottle and just doesn’t seem interested in milk, I feel like I’m having to offer him the bottle all the time because he’s having so little at a time but most of the time he pushes it away. He hasn’t gained weight for 3 weeks now, I took him to the doctors as he also has reflux and seems to spit up a lot of milk all the time. He prescribed gaviscon which seems to be helping but the doctor wasn’t concerned with his weight as he isn’t losing any. But surely in 3 weeks he should have gained even if it was a tiny bit? I’m worried he isn’t getting enough milk but I can’t force him to have any more if he doesn’t want it. He has plenty of wet and dirty nappies and is happy in himself but he looks very long and skinny. Anyone in a similar situation or has any advice? Is it normal for them to have a few weeks where they don’t really gain?

Have you tried changing the teat to one with a faster flow?

@cornstarch I haven’t actually, maybe I should try. We still use slow flow because I was worried that if I changed to a faster flow then he might stop breastfeeding altogether

Is he getting distracted? Sometimes I have to feed mine in the bedroom with the curtains closes just to get her relaxed enough to feed
