Hi all.

My little one is 7 months old and is still so sicky! We were thinking he is just a sicky baby but now wondering if its reflux (gp appointment on tues)

We have changed to sma reflux milk and just wondered how long it was before people saw any improvement in sickness?

For my DD there was zero difference with the anti reflux milk, the things that made a difference was giving her the bottle whilst she was sitting upright, switching to Dr Browns and getting infant gaviscon.

We saw an improvement straight away
Have you tried keeping baby upright after a feed and having the cot on a slight incline?

We tried gavison which worked for a while and then moved on to the ranitidine but, she projectile vomited every time we gave it to her. Tried the anti-reflux milk out of desperation and it's been a lifesaver!

Yeah we have tried all of those things. He has only been on it a day but no difference i didnt know if i was being impatient

Ive read lots of the threads on here about it and changing to dr brown seems a reoccuring theme so may well try that!

Our baby has been suffering from reflux and we switched bottles and have been given infant gaviscon which seems to be working he’s been on it for just over a week now. Just a question on the packaging it says to feed in a 4oz feed, I’ll be increasing his feeds to 5oz, does this mean I have to do 2 separate bottles one 4oz with gaviscon and one 1 oz to make the 5? Any one have any info on this?

Well the anti reflux milk and change of bottles may have helped slightly but today we decided to drop down to 3 bottles a day. He had a bottle at 7am then from 12pm until after his bottle at 3.45pm he wasnt sick at all! That is the longest he has gone without being sick (apart from when asleep) his whole life!

How much milk would you say he had over the day?

mrsed1987 · 18/08/2019 17:03

He has 6oz at 7am, then 4oz in his brekfast (porridge or weetabix) then he has 6oz at 3pm and 6 or 7 at 7.30pm

We noticed it went away once most of her diet was food, she was breast fed so no idea how much she drank at 7 months but around then she was on proper food, not just baby rice

mrsed1987 · 18/08/2019 17:15

Yeah my little one has been on proper food since 5.5 months but it didnt make a difference to the sickness.

It might be a bit late to really do much about it if you’ve managed so far - my DC was very sicky as well until he was about 11/12 months old and then it just stopped. It will probably improve on its own in the next few weeks as you continue weaning onto solid food.

mrsed1987 · 18/08/2019 17:22

Fingers crossed. Its deffo improved in the last few days.

We left it because it was annoying but manageable, however last weekend he was terrible all weekend and as im sure you know, now he is on solids it wasnt just milky! I think i reached my limit and decides i needed to try something

I know and remember well OP - sicking up solids is a whole new ball game, I would leave DS to sit in his high chair for another 20 minutes or so after eating to let it go down. His commando crawling on the floor squashing his belly didn’t help either Grin

mrsed1987 · 18/08/2019 17:39

Thats what i was dreading! And being the only baby at groups being sick over the toys and mats! Today he hasnt been sick since about 11am and he had a bottle at 3.30pm... I even took his bib off when we were out earlier! Lol
