I’m curious on opinions here, I’ve never discussed with people and I am not sure if ones of those contentious issues that isn’t worth discussing in public.

Is any alcohol acceptable? How much, how often, time between drinking and feeding baby?

General thoughts please!

Very small percentage of alcohol makes it into the milk. General rule is if you are sober enough to hold and feed the baby then you can. I generally try to limit alcohol consumption when feeding though, I would usually time a drink just after I had fed to ensure maximum time before feeding again. On occasions we went out or saw friends though, I would have a few drinks and feed.

^ this as long as your sober enough to care for baby it’s fine. Remember to drink more water.

I have a small(ish) glass of wine with dinner 4 or 5 times a week Blush Have done with both children. I wouldn't get smashed but my theory is a little is fine.

I have a glass of wine/bottle of beer/G&T about 3 times a week and have had more on a night out and fed DS when I got back. He doesn't take a bottle but I don't really time.it with feeds, I figure not much alcohol makes it into the milk anyway.

I’m going to be controversial, as I drank while breast feeding. I spoke to a doctor who admitted there were tests and even being on heroin and breast feeding was more beneficial than formula.

I used to express if I was drinking more than 3/4 glasses like nipping to the pub. My baby is 8 months and thriving.
