Can I make bottles up ahead?

It says on the box to make each feed as needed but I see lots of people on here who make them up ahead? Baby doesn't like ready feed.
Thanks

I made them up as per instructions then flash cooled under running cold water and then in the fridge where they were good for 24 hrs. I then Warmed them slightly when baby needed a feed (although she would take them cold straight out of the fridge). I only did this till she was up to 4 ounce bottles and then used perfect prep which makes it so much easier!

@F1rstt1imer I would love a perfect prep but don't have space unfortunately Sad

With DS1 we made up six bottles at a time with hot water from the kettle and then rapidly cooled in cold water and stored them in the back of the fridge for 24 hours, taking one out and warming as needed. I know this isn't strictly recommended but the World Health Organisation have a leaflet online if you Google it that suggests this is the method you use if you're going to make feeds in advance.

DS2 is currently breastfed but once we go to formula this is the method we plan to use again.

If you are 25 or older, were formula fed and your parents owned a fridge - there is a high chance that the bottles would have been made up in advance. I think there is more chance of miscounting scoops of powder, if you are preparing bottles while the baby screams. Your generation survived the 'BAD' way of preparing bottles. I suspect the current advice, is meant to put mums off formula feeding.

@berghg1710

Yeah my Mum was incredulous when I told her you're not supposed to make them ahead. She said they always did, and when she worked on maternity wards they did there too.
